We are a group of people who visit Arts Festivals across South Africa and try to be good news for the community. We run a tent which is open for 24 hours a day, where we give free coffee, tea, cold water and a safe resting place to anyone who is willing to take it for free. The tent is visited around the clock by festival goers, personnel, cleaners, children who live on the street, security guards and stall owners.
This conglomeration of people from very different walks of life makes for very interesting conversation and relationships. The focus of the team is to live the love of God to others, without conditions like handing out tracts or doing any marketing etc. It is not our entice to start any kingdom-orientated conversations, yet people often feel comfortable enough to share their stories.
This is not an organisation or part of a system of any sort. This is a movement. There is no boss and no outcomes which have to be reached. We are people who follow Jesus to be different than what society expect. We want to be able to give and love others without conditions. We would also like to share this experience with others.
To become part of this movement is actually a dangerous thing, because you might never be the same again. Your perspective on how the world works and the status quo of society might change permanently. This is also an opportunity to see and experience your faith in action. To give without reservation or ulterior motives is a challenge out of which you can learn a lot.
